What Is There To Do On Bali Island Besides Beach?

While on vacation to Bali, most tourists prefer to visit Bali beach resorts. Such as Pandawa Beach, Melasti Beach Ungasan, or Kuta beach Bali. If you are often visiting Bali, visiting beach resorts so often will make you feel bored. The question is, what is there to do on Bali Island besides the beach?

Bali’s island offers many tourist attractions besides white sand beaches. For example, the terraced rice fields of Tegalalang Ubud, Lake Beratan Bedugul, views of Mount Batur Kintamani, natural waterfalls, and a hot spring pool. Specifically, I will write about Bali hot spring attractions specific to Banjar Hot Springs Buleleng on this page.

Bali Hot Spring Attraction

Bali’s island has several attractions, including the Banjar hot spring. Banjar hot springs are one of northern Bali’s most famous hot springs. Almost every day, the Hot Spring is full of tourist visits. Both local Balinese tourists, Indonesian domestic tourists, and international tourists.

For your information, some people call Banjar hot spring Banjar natural hot spring. What they mean by natural is the hot water comes from nature; however, the pool is humanmade.

Apart from the Banjar hot springs, the island of Bali also has other hot springs pools. Such as Batur Toya Bungkah Hot Spring & Toya Devasya Hot Spring.

Toya Bungkah and Toya Devasya Hot Spring attractions location are at the foot of Mount Batur Kintamani, Bangli Regency. Meanwhile, Banjar’s natural hot springs location is in northern Bali, in Buleleng regency. The Banjar hot spring has become the best thing to see in north Bali besides the Sekumpul waterfall.

The Attraction of Banjar Hot Springs

When you arrive at the Banjar Hot Spring, you will find a large vehicle parking area. The Bajar Hot Spring ticket counter location is quite close to the parking lot.

After you pay the Banjar Hot Spring entrance fee, you will see many souvenir shops when walking towards the Banjar Hot Spring entrance gate. The average shop sells Balinese souvenirs. After you enter the entrance gate, you will see a small path leading to the pool location.

Banjar Hot Springs facts; In the Banjar hot springs, there are three hot springs pools, namely:

1. The First Hot Spring Pool

The first hot spring pool has 12 meters in length, 1.5 meters in width, and 1 meter in depth. Also, the first hot spring pool lies on the top level, with eight showers.

2. Second Hot Spring Pool

The second hot spring pool lies below the first pool. In comparison, the second pool has 12 meters in length and 10 meters in width. Also, the second pool is the widest of the three pools here.

If you swim in the second pool, please be careful because the pool’s depth varies. The one closest to the shower is 1 meter deep and drops up to 2 meters. The second pool is the most extensive, with varying depths, making the second pool visitor’s favorite for swimming or soaking in.

3. Third Hot Spring Pool

The third hot spring pool location is on the west side of the second pool. There is a shower in the third spring pool, and the shower height is approximately 3 meters. The third hot spring pool is not deep, around waist-deep, and visitors often use the shower to massage their back.

The water temperature of Banjar Hot Spring ± 38° C with sulfur content around 26%, and people say this is a perfect combination for healing. People say that bathing in natural hot water is beneficial for treating skin diseases; whether this is accurate or not, I don’t know.

When I take a bath in the Banjar hot springs pool, my body continues to feel warm, making me able to soak for a longer time. It is a very different experience when I dip in an ordinary pool. After bathing, my body feels fresh, my stomach becomes hungry, and my eyes turn red because the water contains sulfur.

The Best Way To Get To The Location

The best way to get to the Banjar Hot Spring is by private vehicle. There is no public transportation from south Bali to North Bali. What I mean by a private carrier is riding a scooter or driving a car.

Bali Scooter Rental

Finding a motorbike rental in Bali is easy if you stay in the southern Bali area. Such as Seminyak, Jimbaran, Tanjung Benoa, Ungasan, and Uluwatu attractions. All you have to do is use Google with the keyword the nearest Bali motorbike rental.

Several Bali scooter rental providers provide motorbike pick-up services to your hotel. For a scooter, rental prices vary based on the type of motorbike. Bali’s average scooter rental price is around IDR 100,000 / 24 hours without fuel.

Bali Car Rental

Besides riding a scooter, you also can get a car by looking for Bali car rental services. There are two types of Bali car rental services. Namely self-drive car rental and car hire with a driver. Just like motorbikes, you only need to use Google to find Bali rental car services.

Bali car rental prices vary depending on the type of car. For example, the rental cost for a self-driving Toyota Avanza is IDR 275,000 / 24 hours without fuel. As for the Toyota Innova Reborn rental price with driver + fuel, IDR 800,000 / 12 hours.

Due to the Banjar Hot Spring location, far away from famous attractions such as Kuta Bali and the roads are tortuous. Therefore, we recommend you get a car rental with a driver service in Bali.

By using a car rental service + driver on Bali’s island, you don’t have to think about how to find the location of the Banjar hot spring. Also, you can rest while in the car during the trip.

About Wayan Suadnyana

Bali Travel Specialist at Wira Tour Bali
Hi, I’m Wayan Suadnyana, a Bali travel specialist and one of the writers of Wira Tour Bali. I’ve spent 24+ years working in Bali tourism, helping travelers plan smoother trips with clear, practical info, not guesswork.

I graduated from Bali Tourism College (STP Bali) in 2001. Since then, I’ve combined on-the-ground experience with traveler-first writing. My focus is simple: help you pick the right place, the right route, and the right plan so you don’t waste time or end up at the wrong location.

What you can expect from my guides

Accurate, decision-ready details: prices, opening hours, locations, and “what to expect” notes

Transparent updates: I use last-checked dates and clear disclaimers because schedules and fees can change

Local, practical tips: access points, parking, timing, and small details that matter on the day

I’m especially familiar with Bali trip logistics like private car + driver routes, day tours, water sports, rafting, fast boat planning, and cultural stops across the island. I write for travelers who want Bali to feel easy, not confusing.

When I’m not writing or handling guest requests, I’m usually out exploring Bali, often on my bike. That firsthand time on the road keeps my recommendations realistic.
