The shape of Barong Ket resembles a lion and symbolizes goodness. Barong Ket’s body is covered with a material that resembles fur and is very thick. In addition, Barong’s Ket body is decorated with jewelry and tiny mirrors.

To perform the Balinese Barong Ket Dance, two male dancers are needed. One dancer is in the front, and one is at the back. The dancers at the show are in charge of dancing the head and front legs of the Barong. At the same time, the second dancer on the back is dancing the tail and hind legs.

Barong Ket Dance Story

Calonarang is one of the popular forms of folklore in Bali. Calonarang’s novel tells the war between the good, represented by Mpu Baradah against the evil, represented by a widow named Calonarang. The staging of the Barong Ket dance in Bali usually takes part in the story of Calonarang.
